The BestMay 10, 2007
By Elfinstone If you are an Aznavour fan, this is a must have. I have 4 Aznavour concert dvds and I think this is the best one available. The sound is good and he is in good voice and form. He does most of his classic songs in various languages (French, English and Spanish) and includes some new ones. I am so happy to have this record of his performance. A couple of times a year, I get out the champagne and watch this video.

"Debby"
I received this DVD today - a wonderful addition to my Aznavour collection. It brought back fantastic memories of having had the privilege of seeing Monsieur Aznavour at Carnegie Hall in 1980. Each song on this DVD is a jewel. I enjoyed his brief introductions to explain or translate some of the lyrics, setting the mood. Notable among them is "Mon émouvant amour" during which he uses sign language. The selections offer us a broad spectrum of emotion and life - love (of course), frustration, lost opportunity, reflection, homosexuality, religion. The orchestra and backup vocalists are flawless. Although he's performed for decades, I got the feeling that he still loves to interact with his audience. Although in his early 70's when this concert was recorded, his passion, supreme musicality, stamina, and professionalism are evident at all times. This DVD is a "must-have" for newcomers and longtime fans!

Aznavour at Carnegie HallAug 25, 2007
By Sergey Chernyak Aznavour is a universal genius: one of the best composers, one of the top world performers, a prominent and prolific film actor and a very charming classy man. This high quality DVD is a treat for all educated people who also want to live in style.

The king and last survivor of the missing generation of French chansoniers!Aug 14, 2011
By Hiram Gomez Pardo Charles Aznavour gave this historical recital , an edging of transcendental. From 1995 and sold out, the recital composed by 27 songs is a real journey throughout his memorable and distinguished artistic trajectory.
He belonged to that unforgettable post war generation of superb singers: Edith Piaf, Juliette Greco, Yves Montand, Georges Brassens and Jacques Brel, among the most representative ones.
His impeccable jauntiness, inimitable refinement and eloquent magnetism convey us to the very core of every song, where the interpreter not only sings but depicts before us in flesh and soul the tragedy, sorrows and little joys that loves brings.
I have always been a big fan of Aznavour, since I am old enough to reason by myself. So, my worthy reader, if you love the craft of this giant of the French song book, don't let it pass away.
Be my guest!

PerfectSep 08, 2011
By james d. thomas The best video record of Aznavour's concert life capturing a memorable performance at Carnegie Hall. The wide range of material spans his long career; the intimate, nuanced performance is a tribute to his talents as a singer, writer and actor. The impeccable orchestrations enhance the musical variety. And Aznavour himself? Beautiful. Brilliant. Perfect.
