Surreal, Uplifting, and Soul Soothing MusicAug 27, 2007

I saw this when it was broadcast on public television, and I have been waiting impatiently for it to become available in the US. I have long been a fan of Gregorian-style music, but this is something so far beyond the ordinary monastic chant, it is difficult to describe. Gregorian, Masters of Chant, perform contemporary, modern music that everyone will recognize, but they do it in the serene and beautiful style of Gregorian chant. If you've heard any of their CD's, you'll know what I mean. But they take it even further in this DVD by adding the beautiful backdrop of a medieval castle, gorgeous lighting, and choreography. All these elements combine to both uplift your soul and soothe it at the same time. I will watch this DVD again and again and again..........

I also watched it recently on PBS. All the modern songs were my favorites of the 70's and 80's. I like to buy it in CD so I can listen in the car, so far, there none. Anyone know?

One of my Top 5 favorite DVDsApr 09, 2011
By Mike This is my first review on Amazon. But I have to say this DVD is exceptional.
I would give anything for Gregorian to release another DVD in the USA.
I can't get enough of their music. Soothing, inspirational, dramatic.
I always tell people: if I was stranded on a desert island and could only listen to one set of CDs till the day I died, it would be Gregorian. Hands down.

I don't have the words!! But it's FUNNY it's SO BAD and OVER THE TOP AND OVERDONE!! Chants? NO, its song sang by men...with GUITARS!! WHAT?! No, and w/ those really revolting INVISIBLE lip mikes that look like a bit of stage makeup got loose and is sticking out of singers EARS!!! No, not a DVD of actual CHANTS, GREGORION CHANTS, this is singing w/ reverb found only in CAVES miles UNDEGROUND. The ROBES!!!? SHINEY .........I was looking for CHANTS on DVD's that would be played for SEVERELY depressed people and victims of TRAUMA!! BUT WAIT, as COMIC RELIEF it COULD WORK!!!! NO, saw the MONKS is SILVER ROBES, w/ the phony fog, they look like GHOSTS!!! The lady playing FLUTE? on "Wish You Were HERE" ( Wish I Wasn't Here) the FABULOUS Pink Floyd tune? She's costumed as a WITCH!! THIS is what happens when video GEEKS find a WONDERFUL concept and SOMEHOW turn it into a CARTOON!! AKA Celtic Women (The First River Dance, FANTASTIC!) Leave IT and Pink Floyd ALONE!! It doesn't WORK!! Buy some Steve Earle, it's BETTER!!! Money back, ah YEAH!!! And a BONUS for abusing me and insulting me. WHY does the word CHANTS even APPEAR? Anyway, this is not worth anymore of my time. Want ACTUAL chants?? Look elsewhere. GRAYMAN
