do you own this stuffFeb 21, 2006 The video quality is the last thing I'm concerned with. I'm just happy that someone is preserving our precious Hip Hop culture. I mean it seems like no body cares about what these talented brothers and sisters have created. I purchased 92 and 93. I can't wait for more. My library will look sweet with all of these great memories. If this show, RETV recorded this material back in the day, I think we should be singing their praises for for sharing this historic information with us.
All of these so called critics complain about video quality and this or that, but they themselves can't produce these memories - can they?
No they can't! RETV WAS THERE you idiots. You we not! So stop discouraging people from learning about Hip Hop culture. We need to spread the word and RETV has done just that. BUY IT! Collect it and treasure the rare recordings of this American phenomenon that we call Hip Hop. IF YOU WERE THERE you would really understand how special the Hip Hop Time Capsule series really is. Keep up the great work RETV....
P.S. Real collectors never question quality, they simply marvel in the discovery. We are very lucky that someone has documented hip hop. A very rare feat for these visionaries...thank you!
peace I'm out

Great Selections - Bad Video Quality - Edited Videos - Logo Always On The ScreenNov 12, 2005 No beef with the video selection. A few better known artists, but many videos from artists that MTV ignored back in the day.
The video quality is washed out and often looks like it was taken off a third generation VHS tape.
This would have been a perfect oportunity to present these videos unedited and as intended by the artists. Instead, we get the censored versions. What a waste.
EVERY video starts with almost half the screen taken up by text and a logo. When it fades you immediately get a MASSIVE "RETV" logo in the lower right corner. Twice as large as it should be (if it has to be there at all). This one was a deal breaker for me and I will be getting rid of this DVD as soon as possible.
That said, some of the interviews are cool and feature artists that hardly ever received TV exposure.
SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE VOLUMES
1. Get better video quality
2. REMOVE THAT RIDICULOUS RETV LOGO (or at least reduce it by half)
3. When they are available, use uncensored videos
