How Fi Dance!!Aug 16, 2004

Whoa!! This DVD is tight work, for real. This DVD breaks everything DOWN SO WELL (BLASE, SIGNAL THA PLANE, LOG ON, ON LINE, EXCEPT THE HEEL TO TOE). I cannot wait for Vol. 2 to come out. The LEARN segment is cool for real, but the SEE segment is off tha chain. This DVD is worth the money if you are seriously trying to learn the dances, but if you are just trying to see the dances then this is not the DVD because the SEE segment is not showing anything but 'sex in the club with your clothes on'. I have never seen anything like this in any of the Reggae clubs that I have been to, but hey not every club is the same. How Fi Dance is cool with me.

EVER WONDER HOW THEY DO IT?Oct 19, 2005

Even if the dances are not current, the basic steps give you the secret behind how to move your hips, butt, legs, and body in that smooth, sensuous, Jamaican way.
BONUSES!
The interview with the now deceased Bogle!
This DVD is also the best WORKOUT DVD ever!
The dances are easier than they look AND THE DVD IS LOADS OF FUN!

If you're gonna buy...May 04, 2009
By Brooksie Bow I'd suggest buying it directly from the guy who makes these, just net search the title and it comes right up. You can get all three volumes (vol.1, vol.2, and vol.2 THE MOVIE) as a package for far less than the used prices listed here.
Unlike "It's All About Dancing", vol.1 of this video series assumes you are an absolute beginner to dancehall, so it starts very slowly focuing on fairly easy dances. Volume 2 builds on those basic moves and encourages improvisation. THE MOVIE shows you all kinds of clips and events where people are dacing and getting up to some naughty stuff. This isn't your average tourists' Jamaica!
The "How Fi Dance Reggae" series is quite an introduction to the whole culture and dances of that scene. It's tons of fun and a great work out to boot. It's a good starting point for both the music and the dance...you'll find yourself wanting more riddims and soca chunes after watching it. The only major flaw w/ this is the lack of women's instructors and women's dances. There are a few girl instructors (mostly former dancehall queens) in each video...so it's like 15 guys and 3 girls doing the teaching. The focus is on the fellas in what I think of as the Bogle style...so girls don't expect to learn how to bubble 'n' wine from watching the instructional parts.
The extras on Vol.1 and vol.2 THE MOVIE show some of the dances and far more of the 'tude than the main instructional parts in actual dancehalls/street dancing. THE MOVIE is absolutely hilarious and has some really eye popping moments, dance and otherwise.
Before you buy, I suggest looking up some clips on YouTube. If you decide to buy, just get the whole set. The price is good and you get the whole experience at once.

Good instruction, mostly interviews & seeing people danceDec 04, 2006

The teaching portion of this dvd is set in a club/dance studio with host, Kevin King & 8 great dancers taking turns demonstrating. Kevin tells you how it's done using analogies, wehre the move came from & breaks down the move to make it easier to understand. Each dance is shown without music a few times & then with music playing in the club shown with full attitude & style a few times. The moves taught are: Egyption; Signal the plane, parachute, chaplain; Pon de riva, down de flank & give dem a run; Row de boat; Logon; Online, Heal & toe; Higha level; Matrix (backbend), Ponytail & Blase. This is about 40 min long including in between each new move, it shows a few second to minute of the dance being done in clubs, streets, etc., & interviews. The actually teaching is about 20-25 min? The other hour & change is watching people dance at the club, carnivals, etc. in in the US clubs, carnivals & all over the world. I expected the dance moves shown would be the ones learned, but 90% of what I saw was simulated sex pounding with the girls wrapped around the guys waist or her hands on the floor, panties sometimes pulled out from pants, etc.
You can see clips of it on youtube looking up this title
