Cinematamua presents the film "If Tahiti Were Told To Me" in its entirely restored 1953 original French version with English subtitles. The film was shot entirely in Tahiti with traditional music. Alphonse and Charles Holland arrive by the cruise ship "Tahitian" in this documentary of life in Tahiti in the 1950's. They complete a circle tour of the island with many never before photographed lagoons and villages not easily accessible. Outrigger canoe building and racing, Tahitian dancing, restaurants, hotels, government offices, church, lei vendors and King Pomares Tomb are just a few of the sights. The July 14th festival with the Governor includes canoe races, otea and aparima Tahitian dance competitions, and beautiful parade canoes covered in flowers with dancers. Other items of interest include tree climbing, fishing, preparation and cooking of food (poi, sushi, pig, etc.), hut building, vintage fashions, American cars, tikis, and lots of beautiful Tahitian Vahine (women) and Tane (men).
