Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!Dec 20, 2007
By Farah This dvd is lovely introduction to Polynesian dance and everything I hoped it would be. The dvd covers three aspects of Polynesian dance: the Ori Tahiti, the dynamic, fast Otea and the slow, expressive Aparima. Tumata explains every move in detail and Moena demonstrates them thoroughly. You will learn not only the basics but, also, the foot and arm movements that go with each move. Granted, there are no extended practice sessions on this dvd but it's easy enough to re-cue a section on the dvd to work on specifics movements.
Bear in mind that this is NOT a hula/polynesian fitness dvd like the ones by Kili. Her dvds are are absolutely great workouts but are not so good for anyone wishing to learn authentic Polynesian dance as the moves are combined with aerobic excerise movements. While Tumata's dvd is not a workout per se, you will certainly know you've been using your muscles.
Tumata's dvd is devoted solely to learning the fundamentals of Polynesian dance and it is a must have for anyone interested in this exquisite dance form. It also treats the dance with the reverence it so deserves. In a delightful special features segment, Tumata also takes us to Polynesia to see the birthplace of this dance form. It is a treat for the eye and a wonderful cultural learning experience.
The settings for this dvd are visually stunning and the music sublime. At over 70 minutes in length, you get a lot quality dance instruction for a very low price. Well done, Miles Copeland, well done!! Please, please give us a follow up!!!!

Excellent DVDMay 27, 2008
By Lynn English This DVD teaches all of the basic steps and hand movements needed for Polynesian dance. It is easy to follow and explains in detail how to move your hands and feet properly - clear and simple. Learning the hand movements will be most helpful in the translation of other dances you might view and will help you to create a proper dance to almost any song. It is 100% devoted to learning Polynesian dance - no workout. I would highly recommend this DVD to anyone who is unable to find dance classes locally, as you will be able to use this DVD at home with much success.

This DVD is about as close as you will get to the authentic way to dance Tahitian without being in Tahiti. This woman is a skilled instructor that knows the REAL way to dance Tahitian. She has been apart of one of the most creative groups in Tahiti, so she knows exactly what she is talking about. This is definitely a very informative video teaching the essence of basic Tahitian motions and movements. I highly recommend this video if you would like to learn the basics of Tahitian don't buy that other video Tahitian cardio workout. It is not a realistic video it's not even a Tahitian dance video. A wise person once told me if you want learn Tahitian dance learn it from a Tahitian.

By Marichu M. Joguilon For those wanting to learn the basics of Tahitian dancing, this is a great purchase. I have been a fan of Tumata Robinson and her new group Tahiti Ora as well as Les Grands Ballets de Tahiti for a several years now and I am glad that she made a video that broke down the basics. Excellent work! Meeting her and Moena in person at the recent Tahite Fete was just as fantastic as this video and its prompt delivery.
Maururu roa,
Marichu
