There's nothing like live music when the musicians are getting into the music right in front of the audience. Studio music is fine, but the live experience has something more immediate and personal and intimate. Comparing listening to the CDs to my recent experience of a Tinariwen concert in NYC this February, this band really gets into the music when performing. The leader/lead guitarist Ibrahim loses himself in the music in concert as he doesn't or can't in studio recordings. Totally fine.

This DVD takes you on a beautiful journey into the history and performances of this group. I am a fan of Tinariwen. The only downside of the DVD and their CD(s) is the female in the group needs a microphone that will pick up her yoodle (probably not the correct term) more clearly. Having seen this group live, this female voice plays an important role in the magic of their music.
