Literally, the words "Lomi Lomi" themselves means to break up into small pieces, and one of the intentions of the Lomi Lomi technique is to find congested areas of the body and disperse them through rhythmic movements. With Lomi Lomi Massage, massage therapists discover a wonderful blend of therapeutic strokes that create the magical touch of the islands, known as "the dance of massage". This form of massage is easily be combined with other modalities to enhance the body, mind and spirit connection. Included are: forearm strokes, flowing full body techniques, both deep and superficial soft tissue releases and the foot work "dance" that is an integral part of the massage. In Level I, basic techniques of Lomi Lomi massage are taught to you as instructors Julie Stowell and Tamara Mondragon combine over 30 years of experience as Lomi Lomi therapists. In Level II, you will further develop the magical touch known as "the dance of massage" with Tamara Mondragon and her son Matthew, both experts in narrating and demonstrating the deeper techniques. Learn to apply the elbow movements to specific areas in the body. Deep release of blockages are achieved with proficiency. In Level III, Native Hawaiian Ken Ng and Tamara Mondragon share methods used to massage the side of the body. The positioning and release techniques revealed here have been used for thousands of years, yet are still relevant to modern day massage practice. Learn how to release the piriformis muscle to facilitate the relaxation of surrounding muscles that may be causing low back or sciatic pain. Help clients with neck and shoulder pain through work in the subscapularis to increase their range of motion and to unlock stiff joints. These dvd's DO NOT demonstrate traditional lomi lomi. These are simply basic regular massage techniques with very little use of the forearms. I was expecting to see fluid, rhythmic motions using long continuous strokes over the entire body as well as underbody techniques while the therapists moves as if dancing. Do not waste your time and money on these!

I am a new massage therapist. I ordered these dvd's so that I could offer something different to my clients. They LOVE lomi lomi!! The dvd's are very easy to follow and leave you feeling confident in your new abilities! The techniques are very easy to incorporate into what you are already doing. Have fun and enjoy.
