Di Real RockersJul 07, 2010 I really enjoyed Rockers. I am glad to add it to my Jamaican movie collection. I think people should gain a clear understanding of pre colonial, post colonial and present Jamaica in order to understand any authentic Jamaican movie.

5* for the movie, 1* for missing scenes in this releaseMay 20, 2010 5 stars for the movie, but 1 star for cutting allot of scenes on this release, I am a big fan of this movie since and have seen all versions, this one however although the picture quality is a bit sharper, they edited it and removed allot of scenes. dont buy this version if you really want to enjoy this movie. Best of the BestApr 14, 2010 Very enjoyable movie. The music was authentic, the characters were actual reggae stars and the "Robin Hood" theme went over well.
Favorite scene: When the lead character was vexed about his motorbike being stolen and he went to his friend. He and his friend went, walked, and sat by the river and his friend sang a song that calmed the lead character's spirits. That is the most beautiful scene I have ever, ever seen in any movie. It showed true, true friendship.
An Absolute Joy To Watch!Jul 15, 2009 'Rockers' single handedly converted me into being a fan of Jamaican roots rock reggae!
Each actor, or should I say professional musical artist who blesses the screen in 'Rockers', is a legend in their own right and a true pioneer of reggae (see all the legendary names in the other reviews here). It is such a colorful representation of the whole music scene from the gorgeous music to the stunning visuals that unfold through out. There is also lots of grit, dirt and unpleasantness which makes 'Rockers' feel almost like a documentary, albeit it's comical, slapstick qualities that the musicians/actors bring to the loose story.
This film feels so impromptu and organic, it grabs this amazing, original and fruitful era in reggaes history then displays all the wonders and harsh realities of the life of the musician within the Kingston scene. 'Rockers' also lightly brushes on the life of the Rastafari and the influence of this belief system has on the many musicians who grace the screen.
A monumental part of the magic of this film is it's immortal soundtrack which really is a fundamental presentation of the best roots reggae artists in the business of the time. There is virtually no scene in the film that doesn't have music setting the mood. The soundtrack beautifully showcases the many different styles, sounds and faces of this genre and is one of the best starting points to draw from for anyone wanting to get a broad spectrum of Jamaican reggae.
I have watched this film at least a half dozen times and see something new each time. 'Rockers' is a classic film capturing an almost historical account of Jamaican roots rock reggae, supported by natural and humorous performances that leaves the viewer drench in the mood, music, sounds and sights of this fascinating Caribbean island. Only the uptight and soulless won't takes something special from this film.
Enjoy!
RockersFeb 03, 2009 The movie was very entertaining and I loved the soundtrack! The cameo appearances by the artists themselves was a bonus!
