Good but not GreatJun 25, 2003
Good but not great refers to the DVD, of course, not Tito Puente, who was and ever shall be El Rey. If you are a Puente fan or a Latin jazz fan you may opt to buy this disc, but be aware that it is a record of a Canadian concert date from the early/mid '80s. The video is grainy and the sound unremarkable and Puente performs here with a small group, not his big band -- the music set gets a little repetitive. Except for a somewhat stilted interview which looks like it was recorded within a year or two of Tito's passing, there are no "extras." You won't be "blown away" by this disc but you'll enoy it; it's a treat to be able to watch a departed legend in live performance.

Acceptable for an early 80's video.Nov 25, 2005

If you love Tito you will buy the DVD and don't bother about video and sound quality. There are not many visual relicts of his life performances in the early 80's. In those days between recording contracts he played not as polished and managed as in his later years. To catch Tito full of power and close to his fans without the big ensemble behind him you might also consider the DVD of the 1981 life concert at the Irvine Bowl "Latin Labor Day". A 74 minute percussion fiesta nearly forgotten captured during the Laguna Jazz Festival.

bad showMar 30, 2005
By Y. K Do not buy this DVD, poor perfromance, poor sound quality, the band seems to lost all its energy. I hardly could watch it once. Big disapointment.

Great latin jazzFeb 27, 2010
By Angel Gonzalez MD This is Tito at his best playing latin jazz with latin jazz greats Michel Camilo on piano, Jerry Gonzalez on congas and the late Mario Rivera on sax/flute. They are swinging on Stella by Starlight( Great solo by Edguardo Miranda on guitar),Tito's Especiale and Pare Cochero!
Tito Puente the King for ever!Aug 13, 2011
By Hiram Gomez Pardo This recital dates from 1983, and contains 8 tracks loaded with this accustomed vitality and good vibration typical of this monster of the Latin Jazz.
There are memorable tracks such as On Broadway, Oye como va, Stella by starlight and The opener.
A document of priceless transcendence.
