Beautiful Reggae Documentary. (Don't miss it)Nov 26, 2007
By D Brown This has to be one of the best Reggae documentaries ever made, not just for the content of the film but for the beauty of this film. The colours in this film are as rich as any of todays high budget films, i'm not sure how they obtained such a good effect but really the film does an amazing job of showing the the people and place they live. With most of it filmed outdoors it does a great job of capturing the feel of the time. The film is about some of Reggaes Founding Members, the Soul Syndicate led by Fully Fullwood, they have played with lots of the reggae legends including Bob Marley+The wailers, Buring Spear, Heptones, Toots+The Maytals+lots more and are a very well respected band. The film is a mixture of open air live performance and interviews with the band, focusing mainly on Earl"China"Smith, who any reggae fan will know. In the film we also get to see a rare glimpse of Earl Zero and a wonderful performance of "None Shall Escape The Judgement in this Time", those of you not familiar with the song will probably recognise the riddim as it's been used lots of times around the world and is currently used on some advert in the UK. This film was once extremely hard to find and would be passed around collector circles on old vhs tapes with bad quality picture. Now you can get to see the film in all it's glory. Thanks to the film maker Jerry Stein and Jeff Roth, after much request they have re-released the film. There is supposedly a further 10 or 15mins of this film featuring a very rare glimpse of Hugh Mundell and Augustus Pablo but they apparently had problems licensing this.
Don't Miss it.........
